Keep driving briefly if the light is steady, the car idles smoothly, power feels normal, temperature is normal, and there are no strange smells or noises. Read the code within a day or two.
Stop driving and get help if the light is flashing, the car is running rough or losing power, the temperature gauge is climbing, you smell fuel or a hot sulfur odor, or you feel a shudder under acceleration. Those point to an active problem, not a stored notice.
